Diesel Technician/Mechanic

Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Diagnose all apparatus service-related problems. - Determine vehicle conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. - Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment. - Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications. - Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors. - Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, breaks, and valves. - Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. - Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on trucks, such as hose testing, pump testing and ladder testing. - Assist with or complete repairs such as leaks and pump packing. - Verify vehicle performance by conducting driving tests, adjusting controls and systems. - Install equipment on new apparatus prior to delivery. - Keep job knowledge updated by participating in continued training and educational opportunities. - Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed - Provide excellent customer service to clients Qualifications/Skills: - Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, benefits, repairs, and maintenance. - Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. - Knowledge of diesel engines and their components. - Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams. - Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, such as outside in the rain, cold, heat, humidity, etc. - Must be able to work in noisy environments, around engines and apparatus. - Must be able to bend or stoop, kneel, and climb ladders for long periods of time - Ability to perform heavy lifting as required, 50-75 lbs - Must be able to travel overnight as needed.
