Trades wages vary by trade, certification level, and location — so instead of quoting national averages, we measure advertised pay directly. Every month the Tradesppl Hiring Index reports what employers actually offered in job postings published on our own board.

In the August 2026 edition, US postings that disclosed pay ran medians of $68,640 per year for electricians, $73,134 per year for HVAC technicians, and $53,333 per year for welders. In Canada, postings for HVAC technicians ran a median of $45 per hour CAD, though fewer Canadian postings disclose pay.
