About the job
In this role, you will act as a group leader to provide guidance and direction to staff in organizing and providing electrical services to ensure the efficient upkeep of existing process machinery, auxiliary plant equipment and electrical installations by the timely performance of scheduled inspections, maintenance, and repairs and to carry out modifications or new installations in accordance with approved programs in advanced Class 4 wastewater treatment facility.

Mandatory requirements
• Must be licensed in the Province of Ontario as a Maintenance/Construction Electrician (Ontario Reg. 32 Class 309A or R.R.O. 1970 as amended by 78-71) or as an Industrial Electrician (License 442A, Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act, R.S.O. 1990).
• Must have Proof of Completion of Apprenticeship
• Valid Class G driver's license.
• Must be available to be on-call after regular working hours.
• Must be willing to work shifts.
Knowledge
• Thorough knowledge and experience in the generation, maintenance and repair of equipment for the distribution and use of electrical energy at different voltages up to class 35 kilo volts.
• Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental legislation and the policies, procedures and regulations that apply to this work and have practical knowledge and be conversant with the current Ontario Electrical Safety Code and its practices.
• Thorough knowledge of the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of programmable controllers, remote terminal units and data communications circuits, pneumatic and hydraulic instrumentation. Thorough understanding of the principals, standard methods, technology, materials and tools used in the EICT (Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation Control principles). Knowledge of electrical controls and monitors as applied to programmable logic controllers, motor types, motor magnetic center, lockouts and grounding.
• Thorough knowledge, experience and ability to work in an environment using hazardous chemicals associated with the wastewater treatment processes. Knowledge of procurement principles and best practices to purchase equipment and services from vendors and suppliers.
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of computers including operation of various software programs (e.g. Work Management System) and ability to make necessary calculations and interpret data.
Required Skills and Abilities include
• Team leadership skills to direct, mentor and guide staff. Judgement and decision making skills to provide direction to staff on projects, work and priorities.
• Interpersonal skills to provide direction, advice and recommendations to management, contractors, equipment suppliers, project staff and other Agency personnel.
• Problem solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and make timely decisions to address work priorities and emergencies
• Proven ability with administrative duties and strong oral and written communication skills to effectively provide guidance and technical input to both internal and external stakeholders, create work instructions, generate reports, maintain activity logs, conduct tailgate meetings, give advice and instructions , keep logs,
• Physical dexterity and ability to work in confined spaces, dirty and/or noisy environments and in all weather conditions.
• Ability to use and understand operating and maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications.
