Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Class A Fitter Welder to join a manufacturing team in Collinsville. The Class A Fittter Welder will perform advanced welding and fitting tasks while following ASME code standards to produce high-quality fabricated components.
This Class A Fitter Welder position requires strong knowledge of multiple welding processes, the ability to read engineering drawings, and the skill to work in a production fabrication environment.
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must pass the following tests:
3G plate weld using MIG and Flux Core
6G TIG weld on 2½'' pipe to ASME code standards
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Class A Fitter Welder role includes:
Prepare parts and tools for welding and fit-up activities
Perform welding using FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes
Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
Follow ASME code requirements for all applicable welding tasks
Distinguish between weld types including fillet welds, J-groove welds, and back gouging
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work orders
Operate and maintain welding equipment and fabrication tools
Use powered and manual hand tools during welding and assembly
Set up ladders, scaffolding, and temporary equipment when required
Work effectively within a team environment while following safety procedures
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to pass required weld tests
Ability to read and interpret tape measurements accurately
Strong knowledge of welding processes and fabrication practices
Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage
